Preventive driving - Courses and curiculum

STAGE ONE: Theory

This is a 3 hours course given in a classroom

  • Coffee and drinks supplied.
  • Maximum participants limited to 25.
  • Morning and afternoon sessions are available
  • Morning course begin at 9 am
  • Afternoon sessions begin at 1pm.
  • The course is open to all class of drivers, minimum age requirement is 16.
  • Key concepts covered in Stage one theory are;
    • Seating position
    • Holding the steering wheel
    • Mirrors and accessories
    • Basic braking and introduction to ABS
    • Common distances between vehicles
    • Introduction to the laws of physics
    • Electronic nannies
    • The dynamics of corners
    • The weather and how it affects us

STAGE ONE: Practice

  • This course is usually held on a different day than theory to allow the student to practice some of what they learned in day to day driving. There will be some dedicated all day sessions where stage one theory and practice are combined.
  • The focus is on improving all drivers' skill sets and putting into practice what was learned in class. Some key exercises' will include but not limited to;
    • Use of Anti lock brakes
    • Lane change exercises'
    • Accident avoidance
    • Use of vision


STAGE TWO: Theory

This is a 3 hour course given in a classroom

  • Coffee and drinks supplied.
  • Maximum participants limited to 25.
  • Morning and afternoon sessions are available
  • Morning course begin at 9 am
  • Afternoon sessions begin at 1pm.
  • The course is open to all class of drivers, minimum age requirement is 16.
  • Key concepts covered but not limited to;
    • In depth vehicle dynamics
    • Weight transfer and your car
    • Increased review of the dynamics of a curve
    • Passing
    • Heal and toe
    • Vision practice
    • Performance and your vehicle

STAGE TWO: Practice:

  • This course is usually held on a different day than theory to allow the student to practice some of what they learned in day to day driving. There will be dedicated all day sessions where theory and practice are combined.
  • The focus is on improving all drivers' skill sets and putting into practice what was learned in class. Some key exercises' will include but not limited to;
    • Figure eight and losing control
    • High speed application of ABS and steering and driving
    • High speed lane change
    • Inconsistent driving surfaces
    • Aquaplaning
