Good evening Michel, I wanted to send a quick note extending my sincere thanks for a great event yesterday.
As you know it was my first lapping event with Groupe Virages so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised by what I experienced.Driving up yesterday morning, my biggest concern was the language barrier. But when I stopped on the street awaiting entry to the track, I was greeted by two lovely women, one of which knew me by name right away and spoke English immediately before I had a chance to say ‘Hello’. I’m not sure if it’s because she saw my front license plate and realized I was the lone person from Ontario (that I saw) but it definitely set my mind at ease and set the tone for the day.
From that point on everything went smoothly unpacking the car and getting through tech inspection. It’s clear your club is a well-oiled machine and has this down to a science. I applaud your team of volunteers as I can imagine it’s not as easy as you made it look.
Then having someone specifically give me a drivers meeting in English was again very much appreciated. The basics are pretty much universal amongst all tracks, but there were a few Tremblant and/or Virages specific rules I learnt and had questions regarding. So for you to set that up for me was great. I unfortunately did not catch the name of the gentleman that I was talking with but he was very thorough and gave me the crucial info I needed.
My instructor Mike was also excellent in getting me back up to speed on the track. My last event there was in July of last year (in the rain) so I was rusty and apparently trying to drive the rain line. The first session in the morning was pretty crappy…but after he took me for a ride in his GTR, it helped me continually learn thorough the day. He provided great insight, while still letting me pretty much go at it myself for the most part knowing that I was not a track-day newbie.
Anyways…I don’t want to ramble on much more…I just wanted to again say thank you for making my first Groupe Virages event a fantastic time. I know I have to get on it sooner than later, but I am hoping to be able to sign up for at least one of the dates in August. Possibly both.
Thank you
Chris Ellard
